The Areas of Well-Being
We Support Are:
Depression in Pregnancy
7,500 women experience depression throughout their pregnancy or antenatal depression in Ireland every year and these are only the mothers who are diagnosed. Antenatal depression is often overlooked because it is hard to identify and it is less well understood than postnatal depression.
Post Natal Depression
Post Natal Depression also known as PND or postpartum depression, is a slide into gradual depression following the birth of a baby and can affect around 18,000 mothers annually in Ireland.
Newborn Baby Loss
When a baby dies in the first 28 days of life, it is called neonatal death. Neonatal death represents a significant and complex bereavement and will have profound and devastating effects on the parents, their other children and their wider family and friends.
Anxiety can occur both during pregnancy and after the birth of your baby. Pregnancy can bring about big changes in your life, especially if this is your 1st pregnancy. Some women cope with these changes, while others find it harder, and every woman is different.
IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation)
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can occur after a mother experiences a traumatic pregnancy or childbirth. Your life, or your baby’s life, may have been at risk. Events may have caused you and your partner to feel fearful or helpless, or even horrified by what happened.
Miscarriage/ Loss of a Baby
A miscarriage is the loss of a pregnancy. The majority of miscarriages happen during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, which is often referred to as the first trimester. Miscarriage often occurs with no warning, and often no medical reason can be found why it happened.
Depression In Men
Men who are experiencing depression, anxiety, or loss may not recognise the risk factors or symptoms of how they feel. These feelings can affect men of all ages and personality types regardless of economic status.
